About Online Banking

24 hour, 365 day banking from your computer.

Online Banking is a National Bank service that lets you do your everyday banking 24 hours, 365 days from a computer at home or work. You can:

  • Check the balances of your everyday and savings accounts, term deposits, credit cards, loans and managed funds
  • Transfer funds between your National Bank accounts
  • Create new bill payees by selecting from a list of Pre-Authorised organisations or setting up a Self-Selected Party (organisations or individuals not pre-authorised).
  • Make regular bill payments to your bill payees - you can create up to 10 bill payments at a time and set the payment date up to 90 days in advance
  • Make one-off payments to any other bank account in New Zealand
  • Make tax payments to the Inland Revenue Department. Set your payment date up to 90 days in advance
  • Create, amend, or delete your automatic payments online. You can change details such as the amount, frequency, next payment date and your statement details
  • Use OnlineCode for additional security while banking online
  • View or print out transaction summaries, or download them for use with software applications
  • Choose to stop receiving paper statements on some accounts, and re-start them at any time
  • Request to open an everyday or savings account, or a new term deposit online
  • Update your contact details
  • Use Bank Mail to ask questions in a secure environment
  • Register for and access Online Share Trading to buy and sell shares online

National Bank Online Banking is a real-time system, which means your information is right up to the minute. The normal clearing rules will apply. Any transfers, payments or maintenance completed before 8pm business days are processed that day; those made after 8pm are processed the following business day.

Please note – to provide the most up to date information, system maintenance is required between 8pm and 8.30pm on business days, which may result in some services being unavailable.

Your unique customer number and individual password means you control access to your accounts.

You can access Online Banking from any Internet-connected computer in the world as long as its browser meets the encryption requirements that ensure confidential transaction processing.

What You Need

  • Online Banking is available for customers with at least one current account, savings account, credit card or term deposit account may use Online Banking. You need to have single or 'several' signing authority on your accounts to have full online access.
  • You need access to the Internet with an Internet browser that supports 128 bit encryption, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher or Netscape Navigator 8.0 or higher. You can download a suitable browser from the Internet.
